Men's Health Week

Men’s Health Week annual campaign to increase awareness of health issues in men.

Men worldwide are being urged to take control of their health and wellbeing as part of this week’s Men’s Health Week.

Men’s Health week is an annual campaign aiming to increase awareness of preventable health problems in men of all ages. Each year men are encouraged to be pro-active with their own health and wellbeing and are reminded to engage in healthier lifestyle choices.

A survey by Macmillan Cancer Support found that almost half of men would feel discouraged from talking about changes to their health such as a lump, a suspicious mole or pain, in case they were perceived as 'making a fuss'.

Furthermore, the survey found that over 38 per cent have been 'kept awake at night' because of health worries and 11 per cent of men who have noticed changes to their health have put off seeing a doctor because they are frightened their symptoms might be a sign of a serious health condition.

Early diagnoses and intervention of men’s health issues are crucial. This is why Australian Clinical Labs offers employee health screening to assist businesses in actively promoting employee health – increasing business morale and productivity, and reducing workplace incidents and sick days. General check-up tests can screen for many of the general markers used to determine employee’s general risk factors to good health such as Cholesterol, Glucose, and Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA).
