Dr Dabner graduated from the University of Tasmania with MBBS and BMedSci qualifications, both with First Class Honours. He moved to Perth to complete specialist training in Anatomical Pathology, gaining Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in 2013. In 2015-2016 Dr Dabner undertook additional postgraduate training in haematolymphoid pathology and neuropathology in London (University College London Hospital, National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and UCL Institute of Neurology, Queen Square). He has strong interests in haematolymphoid pathology, neuropathology, head and neck pathology and gastrointestinal pathology, and also works with the musculoskeletal, skin, cytopathology and molecular oncology subspecialty teams. Dr Dabner also has a particular interest in medical education, gaining a Master of Education alongside his medical training. He was awarded the RCPA (WA) Dr Victor J Ojeda Outstanding Teaching Award in 2015 and is regularly involved in registrar teaching. He is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Western Australia, and has previously taught at University of Notre Dame (WA), University of Tasmania, and University College London. He is currently a member of the RCPA Cancer Services Advisory Committee and RCPA WA state committee and is a former Chair of the RCPA's Trainee Advisory Committee. As a trainee, Dr Dabner received the 2011 AMA (WA) Dr Camille Michener Legacy/Junior Doctor of the Year Award.
