Dr Gangatharan graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2001. He trained in clinical and laboratory haematology in Perth teaching hospitals as well as the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne. Following admission to the RACP and RCPA he completed a two year Lymphoma Fellowship at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Toronto, Canada. Dr Gangatharan has an interest in general haematology including malignant haematology and has written multiple research papers in this field covering myeloma, leukaemia and lymphoma. He is a member of the WA Cancer and Palliative Care Network (WACPN) collaborative groups in Survivorship, as well as Adolescent and Young Adults. He is a member of the Australasian Leukaemia and Lymphoma Group (ALLG) Disease Group Committee’s in High Grade NHL and Hodgkin Lymphoma, Low Grade NHL and CLL, and Supportive Care. As a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Western Australia he teaches medical students. Dr Gangatharan sees patients privately at Hollywood Private Hospital, and publicly at St John of God Midland Public Hospital and Rockingham General Hospital. He also works as a laboratory haematologist for the pathology providers Pathwest and Clinical Laboratories.
