Dr Slim studied medicine at the University of Southampton (UK), and trained in anatomical pathology in the UK and New Zealand. Dermatopathology and gastrointestinal pathology are her particular areas of interest. However, experience in Cellular Pathology (UK) since 2005 and achievement of Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia provide a much broader base to her areas of expertise. Dr Slim trained for three years in pathology at Christchurch Hospital in New Zealand. This large tertiary hospital treats a wide range of skin and gastrointestinal conditions, including a high rate of cancers. She also worked for three months as a senior Fellow in the Sarcoma Unit of the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, gaining experience in soft tissue pathology. In early 2018, Dr Slim worked with world-renowned Dr Eduardo Calonje (co-author of McKee’s ‘Pathology of the Skin’) at St John’s Institute of Dermatology and developed solid professional links within the department. Dr Slim is keen on developing her expertise in in Molecular Pathology and recently gained a Postgraduate Certificate in Cancer, Molecular Pathology and Genomics from Barts Cancer Institute at the University of London. She loves teaching and together with her leadership and management skills, completes the package for her new role at Australian Clinical Labs.
