Clinical Labs and Barwon Health Hospital Agree on Five Year Extension of Services
Clinical Labs and Barwon Health have reached an agreement on a five-year extension, whereby Clinical Labs will continue to provide pathology services to the Barwon Hospital and its associated facilities in Geelong and the Surf Coast. This is a significant achievement for the Clinical Labs Victorian business and a testament to Clinical Labs’ commitment in providing the very best care to our doctors and patients.
In securing this partnership, Barwon Health recognised the exceptional levels of service we deliver to both Barwon Health and the local community. This includes our collaborative efforts to continually improve performance and the ongoing support we provide in the current pandemic.
Clinical Labs is an experienced provider of pathology services to major public and private hospitals throughout Australia, servicing over 90 hospitals, which include large–scale facilities, day hospitals, acute care facilities, 24/7 emergency departments and smaller regional hospitals.
ACL has contracts with four significant public hospitals, including Bendigo Health in Victoria, Barwon Health – University Hospital Geelong in Victoria, Northern Beaches Hospital in New South Wales and the SJGHC Midland Hospital in Western Australia.
ACL also provides pathology services to over 20 regional Victorian public hospitals and is the primary pathology provider to two of the three largest private hospital groups (Healthscope and St John of God Health Care (SJGHC) private hospitals), with exclusive contracts to provide onsite pathology services with the majority of these hospitals.

Formed in 1998, Barwon Health is one of the largest and most comprehensive regional health services in Australia, providing care at all stages of life and circumstance. Health services available through Barwon Health cover the full spectrum from primary care, community services, aged care, rehabilitation, mental health, emergency and acute care. With the exception of neurosurgery and transplantation, virtually all other specialties are available through University Hospital Geelong.
