New analyser provides faster turnaround times for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV molecular testing
Clinical Labs is proud to announce the acquisition of the Roche Cobas 6800 Analyser, the next generation of fully integrated and automated instrumentation for sample preparation and real-time PCR. The instrument will be used for molecular testing of Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV.
The analyser has greater capacity to test serum and plasma with shorter processing times than the previous instrumentation. It has the capability to perform a primary diagnosis as well as viral load testing.
Australian Clinical Labs Microbiologist Dr Linda Dreyer said that double the number of test batches with continuous loading can now be performed.
“We are excited to have taken delivery of Clinical Labs’ first Cobas 6800 analyser. This technology will position us to meet the demands of the current environment where Government-sanctioned treatment of all people with Hepatitis C has resulted in a more than doubling of the number of requests for molecular Hepatitis C markers prior and during treatment. This platform allows for high volume continuous loading of samples which will facilitate excellent turnaround times and quality of work”.
