World’s Longest Lunch

Clinical Labs World’s Longest Lunch

Clinical Labs proudly sponsored the World’s Longest Lunch held on the Geelong Waterfront today.

The annual event raises money for Barwon Health’s #ProjectLove – the redevelopment of the Andrew Love Cancer Centre. The centre provides crucial services to more than 2,000 people in the region who are diagnosed with cancer each year.

Clinical Lab’s collaboration with Barwon Health dates back to 1998 through St John of God Pathology which was acquired by Clinical Labs in October 2016. Clinical Labs is proud to be Barwon Health’s exclusive pathology provider.

Clinical Labs CEO and Managing Director Melinda McGrath said, “Clinical Labs is pleased to be involved in the World’s Longest Lunch. Our Company is committed to investing in cutting edge research and technology to tackle cancer. We are proud to support the Barwon Health Foundation to help raise funds to improve the health and wellbeing of Geelong’s communities.”

A highlight of the event was a speech by Associate Professor Mirette Saad, National Clinical Director of the Molecular Genetic Pathology at Australian Clinical Labs.

Dr Saad explained how the rapid expanse of genetic information in the past 15 years has led to a better understanding of the biologic diversity of cancers.

“This genetic information is fuelling the trend to personalised medicine which tailors revolutionary treatments based on patients or their tumours genetic signatures, ”Dr Saad said.

The World’s Longest Lunch showcased local chefs with wine and produce sourced from the Geelong area.
