The Adrenal hormone profile is a saliva test.
The Adrenal hormone profile is a test that monitors the levels of the stress hormones, cortisol and DHEA-S, over the course of the day. This test helps to determine adrenal function in patients presenting with symptoms such as anxiety, depression, mood swings, headaches, low energy, stress, insomnia, poor immune function and hormonal imbalance.
Altered levels of cortisol and DHEA-S are indicative of issues with adrenal adaptability and stress. Prolonged stress can cause increased secretion of cortisol and can eventually lead to adrenal exhaustion and immune suppression. Altered levels of DHEA-S may result in fatigue, poor immune function, memory loss, cognitive issues and weight gain.
