Australian Clinical Labs WA Anatomical Pathology Department accredited as International Training Centre in Dermatopathology
Published September 2026
We are delighted to announce that Australian Clinical Labs WA Anatomical Pathology Department, Subiaco, has been accredited by the ICDP-UEMS as a Training Centre in Dermatopathology, with Dr Natalie Dixon as Program Director.
The International Committee for Dermatopathology (ICDP), in conjunction with the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), oversees international standards for advanced training and certification in dermatopathology. Accreditation as a Training Centre recognises that a department has the expertise, case volume, facilities and educational resources required to provide structured, high-quality training in dermatopathology.
This is a significant achievement for Dr Dixon and the wider Clinical Labs WA Anatomical Pathology team. The accreditation represents important international recognition of the strength and expertise of our dermatopathology service and our capacity to provide high-quality specialist training.
The accreditation provides an exciting opportunity to further develop dermatopathology training within Clinical Labs, including structured exposure to a broad range of skin pathology supported by teaching, tutorials, clinicopathological correlation and other educational activities. It also provides an important platform for attracting and developing pathologists with a particular interest in dermatopathology.
Moving forward, we hope to use this accreditation to strengthen our dermatopathology service, develop advanced training opportunities for current and future pathologists, support recruitment and professional development, and continue building Clinical Labs WA Anatomical Pathology Department as a centre of expertise in dermatopathology.

A/Prof Marissa Muller (pictured centre left), Clinical Director, Anatomical Pathology WA, together with Shae Seymour (pictured far right), State CEO, and Greg Horan (pictured far left), National CEO, congratulate Dr Dixon (pictured centre right) and the Clinical Labs WA Anatomical Pathology team on this outstanding achievement and the international recognition it brings to Clinical Labs.
The accreditation reflects not only Dr Dixon's commitment to dermatopathology education and training, but also the strength of the broader WA Anatomical Pathology service and Clinical Labs’ ongoing commitment to developing specialist expertise and the next generation of pathologists.
