About

Dr Jacques Malherbe is a dual trained clinical and laboratory haematologist. He first completed his Bachelor of Science (Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, Neuroscience) at the University of Western Australia in 2012. He subsequently completed a Bachelor of Medical Science (Hons.) degree and honours thesis (first class) in 2013, before obtaining his Doctor of Medicine (MD) with Distinction in 2017 at the University of Western Australia. He has been practicing as a physician in Western Australia since 2018. He attained Fellowship in Clinical Haematology (FRACP) and Haematopathology (FRCPA) in July 2026.

Dr Malherbe has held an Adjunct Clinical Senior Lecturer appointment with the University of Western Australia since 2019, and has been actively undertaking translational research into haematological malignancies since 2013 through his affiliation with the Translational Cancer Pathology Laboratory (UWA). He also provides lecture and tutorial teaching support to the School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Western Australia.

Dr Malherbe’s clinical and research interests include megakaryocyte biology and pathology, myeloproliferative neoplasms, acute leukaemias, plasma cell disorders, normal marrow haematopoiesis and the translational application of novel genomics, integrated flow cytometric and cytogenetic analyses, and digital enumeration technology to advance haematology diagnostics and disease monitoring.
