Dr Mayson is a clinical and laboratory haematologist who is dual trained through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA). She has extensive experience in a variety of areas including malignant haematology, bone marrow transplant, rural haematology, obstetric haematology, patient blood management and thrombosis. She completed a Master of Philosophy (Medicine) thesis investigating obstetric blood transfusion practice in NSW. She currently practices in public and private practice at the St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney Campus, runs a fortnightly rural haematology service in the country town of Griffith (NSW) and has strong interests in practice management and clinical governance, overseeing the Therapeutic Venesection Service at St Vincent’s and playing a key role in the development of a chemotherapy suite at St Vincent’s Private Hospital. She is a conjoint associate lecturer at UNSW (St Vincent’s Clinical School) and also teaches physician trainees and trainee haematologists. Dr Mayson is the first haematologist to hold a sessional lab appointment with Clinical Labs at the newly built Northern Beaches Hospital in Sydney.
