Workplace COVID-19 Testing FAQs

Can asymptomatic employees work while they await their test results?


Yes, all asymptomatic employees can continue to work while waiting for results. However, ensure employees continue to follow the recommended hand-washing and social-distancing guidelines.  


 

How will my organisation be notified of employee results, and how is result confidentiality maintained?


1. Employee tests negative to COVID-19.
Confidential results will be available through our secure eResults online portal. You will be provided with a username and password when your account is set-up.

2. Employee tests positive to COVID-19. If an employee were to test positive to COVID-19, your organisation's designated HR or WHS representative will be notified by telephone and confidential results will be available through our secure eResults portal. The relevant state-based health authority will also be notified.

 


 

How long does it take for the results to come back?


Results will be available within 24 hours (may vary with demand).

 


 

How will negative results be delivered?


Individuals will receive their negative COVID-19 result via SMS. Negative results for all employees will be available to your organisation's designated HR or WHS representative via our secure eResults portal.



 

What happens if an employee tests positive for COVID-19?


Your organisation’s designated HR or WHS representative will be notified by telephone and confidential results will be available through our secure eResults portal. The relevant state-based health authority will also be notified.

Confirmed COVID-19 cases must be immediately isolated and as soon as possible removed from the workplace and proximity of other workers.

A public health official will conduct a detailed interview to determine who that person has come in contact with while infectious with COVID-19 and determine who is considered to be a casual or close contact.



 

Can our organisation conduct COVID-19 testing on asymptomatic employees more than once?


Yes. Your organisation can choose to perform a one-off test to screen employees, or alternatively opt to test at regular intervals.

 


 

How do our employees receive a pathology request form?


Clinical Labs will provide you with personalised, pre-filled request forms for your use; these can be made available as a PDF.

 


 

Where can our employees go for their COVID-19 test?


Your staff can choose from one of our specialised COVID-19 Centres, where the procedure will be safely completed by one of our trained and professional collectors. You can find our COVID-19 centre locations via our online location finder, select 'COVID-19 Centre' from the 'All Facilities' dropdown menu. 

Alternatively, if group testing is required, our COVID-19 collection team can come to your workplace. Testing will be completed by our trained and professional collectors wearing the required personal protective equipment (PPE).


 

Is testing for asymptomatic employees allowed in my state?


Asymptomatic COVID-19 testing is available through Clinical Labs in Vic, NSW, ACT, WA, SA and NT.
