Dr Sara De Vries received her medical degree from the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands in 2012. She completed her training in anatomical pathology at VU University Medical Centre in Amsterdam in 2017, achieving fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (UK). She subsequently worked as a substantive consultant pathologist at The James Cook University hospital in Middlesbrough (UK) from 2017 – 2018. In 2018 Sara was appointed as a consultant pathologist at the Royal Glamorgan hospital in Llantrisant (UK) where she worked until November 2023 before moving to Australia. She also conducted post-mortems for HM Coroner and attended inquests at Coroner’s court, focussing on unnatural causes of deaths in adults. Alongside her busy practice, Sara completed a fully funded part-time MSc degree in Genomic Medicine with distinction at Swansea University, UK, in 2023. In addition, she was awarded a prize for highest achieving student at the School of Biosciences at Swansea University.
