Dr Sophia Merilyn George graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery(MBBS) from B.J.Medical College, Pune, India. She is a gold medallist in Pathology from Seth G.S Medical College, Mumbai, where she simultaneously completed her Diplomate with the National Board of New Delhi in 2006. Dr. Sophia then trained as a Senior Registrar in Oncopathology at the Tata Memorial Hospital and Cancer Centre till 2008 and was an Assistant Professor in Christian Medical College, Vellore, from 2008 till 2010. Dr Sophia was In charge of Histopathology at Inlaks Budhrani Hospital and Cancer centre till her relocation to Malaysia in 2012. She trained in UKM and practiced in the private sector as a Consultant in Histopathology and Cytopathology. She trained for the Fellowship of The Royal College of Pathologists Australasia and simultaneously completed her Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists(UK) in 2021. Dr Sophia is a member of the International Association of Cytology (MIAC) and enjoys reporting all aspects of pathology with a keen interest in Dermatopathology, Cytology, Gynaecological Oncology, Breast and Colorectal Pathology. She is well versed in Digital Pathology with experience in remote digital pathology reporting. She has a keen interest and passion of imparting knowledge and has conducted several teaching sessions and conferences for undergraduate, postgraduate, paraclinical and clinical students. She lives by the motto, giving her best and making a difference.
